A US senator has denied that Washington has ruled out strikes on Iran, telling people to “stay tuned”.

Lindsey Graham, a Republican senator, dismissed reports claiming Donald Trump did not intend to attack Tehran, calling them “beyond inaccurate”.

He shared headlines that read: “Trump informed Iran he does not intend to attack, asked Tehran to exercise restraint: envoy” and “Trump gets cold feet on Iran”.

Mr Graham wrote on social media: “All the headlines like these are examples of reporting that are beyond inaccurate.

“The circumstances around the necessary, decisive action to be taken against the evil Iranian regime have nothing to do with President Trump’s will or determination.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. Quite the opposite. Stay tuned.”
