Yvette Cooper told MPs that Iranian-made Shahed-type drones had been used “to inflict terror on the Ukrainian people and now being used to launch indiscriminate attacks across the Middle East and the Gulf”.

The British military base in Cyprus, RAF Akrotiri, was hit with an ​Iranian Shahed drone, likely fired by Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah from Lebanon.


She added: “We are working with Ukrainian expertise to provide support to partners in the Gulf.”
