President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a phone call on Sunday afternoon about the conflict with Iran a day after Trump accused the British leader on social media of joining the war in Iran after the U.S. has "already won."
The prime minister’s office described what the two leaders spoke about during the call.
"The leaders began by discussing the latest situation in the Middle East and the military cooperation between the U.K. and U.S. through the use of RAF bases in support of the collective self-defense of partners in the region,” it said.
Starmer also shared condolences with Trump and the American people following the deaths of six U.S. soldiers, his office said.
"They looked forward to speaking again soon,” it said.
The call comes after Trump slammed Starmer on Saturday over not providing military support sooner.
"The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them any longer — But we will remember. We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!"
