The United States will back Ukraine's NATO accession if the Ukrainian people express such a desire, US Vice President Joe Biden has told a news conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to Biden, he and President Obama had clearly stated that if Ukraine wants to be a part of Euro-Atlantic integration, so the US backs this decision.

For his part, President Viktor Yushchenko thanked the United States 'for that consecutive, comprehensible, clear role the United States plays in supporting for integration into NATO.
